The misuse and overuse of antimicrobial agents is evolving as one of the world’s most pressing public health challenges. Improving the use of antibiotics to decrease the emergence of drug resistant bacteria is an important patient safety and public health issue as well as a national priority. This course focuses on Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs)

Learning Objectives

  • Characterize the problem of antibiotic resistance and describe trends in antibiotic resistance among respiratory pathogens in the United States.
  • List the most common reasons for inappropriate prescribing of antibiotics by health care providers.
  • Describe how pharmacists can be involved in addressing antibiotic resistance in the community.
  • Determine the pharmacist practice activity domains in public health initiatives and responses and promotion of safe medication use in society (CAPE 3-1-D-i).
  • Identify the goals and objectives of the Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work program.

I am a life long learner with a desire to educate and teach others.  Since graduating in The Ohio State University in 2012, I have been nothing but dedicated to dentistry and learning all that I can. In July of 2016 I received my Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry after just four short years. In my practice, I provide various specialty and general services such as third molar surgery, CEREC restorations, Sleep Apnea appliances, implant therapy, upper/lower root canal therapy and various periodontal procedures with or without moderate conscious IV sedation.
