The misuse of controlled substances, such as stimulants, opioids, sedatives, and tranquilizers is a public health crisis facing all Americans. This course takes an in-depth look at the various medications regulated by the federal government under the heading of controlled substances. The course will also provide all health care providers with essential information regarding the risks associated with prescribing controlled substances as well as the safe and effective use and prescription of controlled substances, and how to identify and prevent drug misuse.

This course satisfies the West Virginia mandatory requirement on training in drug diversion and best practice prescribing of controlled substances.
